Three (3) entrepreneurs have emerged as the winners of the inaugural OECS-Republic Bank Business Model Competition \u2013 a strategic initiative of the\u00a0<\/strong>OECS Sustainable Development Movement<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0designed to strengthen entrepreneurship in the Caribbean through capacity building, access to investors and leveraging opportunities.<\/strong>The much-anticipated final of the Business Model Competition was\u00a0<\/strong>a\u00a0<\/strong>Pitch Battle with Star of ABC’s Shark Tank & CEO of the Shark Group,\u00a0Daymond John<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>featuring the top eight (8) entrepreneurs.<\/p>

Jody White<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Slimdown360<\/em>, Trinidad and Tobago, claimed the top spot taking home the first place prize of US$20,000;\u00a0Trevaun Soloman<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Project Jaguar: The Home of The Teacherpreneur<\/em>, Antigua and Barbuda, took home the second place prize of US$10,000; and\u00a0Alex Straun<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Genesis Payment Solutions<\/em>, St. Kitts and Nevis took home the third place prize of US$5,000.<\/p>\n

Of the\u00a0thirty (30) Caribbean entrepreneurs<\/a>\u00a0that embarked on the eight-week journey of capacity building and networking via integration into the Business Model Competition’s virtual network of business development support,\u00a0nineteen (19) entrepreneurs advanced to the semifinal phase<\/a>\u00a0of the competition and eight (8) entrepreneurs were selected to participate in the final pitch competition with Daymond John.<\/p>\n
