A basket of locally grown produce was recently presented to Prime Minister Gaston Browne by the staff of the Agricultural Extension Division.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The staff made the presentation as a show of appreciation to the prime minister for his role in commissioning the newly refurbished PDO building.<\/p>\n

The Agricultural extension division, which is now housed in the PDO building, is primarily responsible for crop production and logistical support for farmers.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/div>\n

The division also spearheaded a free crop seedling drive earlier this year.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

In presenting the basket filled with melons, pineapples, breadfruit, eggplants, tomatoes, sweet peppers and other varieties of fruit and vegetables, Agricultural Extension Officer, Owolabi Olobanjo said, \u201cWe thank you and we thank the government for \u00a0its support.<\/p>\n

We can assure you that agriculture is going to be on a different plain moving forward.\u201d<\/p>

Moved by the gesture, PM Browne responded, \u201cYou can be assured of the continued support of my government. We want to make sure we continue to support the Ministry of Agriculture, especially to address our issue of food insecurity.<\/p>\n

We are also not only committed collectively as a Cabinet but also individually. Several of my colleagues are involved in backyard farming.<\/p>
