Allegations that a farm near the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium has been using human waste as fertilizer have been dismissed by the Central Board of Health.<\/p>\n

The allegation, which was posted on social media, caused great uproar.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

This in turn prompted the Central Board of Health to dispatch a team of officers to inspect the farm which is operated by Chinese nationals. In addition to the CBH inspection team.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Chief Health Inspector, Sharon Martin, also visited the farm which is located off Old Parham Road near the cricket stadium.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cThe social activist made contact with me and I wanted to be able to verify for myself the veracity of her claims. I went to the farm, ac companied by two other officers, and I inspected the mound which the individual reported to me.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI examined the mound carefully and determined that what was there was not human faecal matter but animal parts, namely chicken,\u201d the Chief Health Inspector explained.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

According to Martin, human faeces carries a particular odor which was not identified at the mound on the farm.<\/p>

She also spoke with the operator of an adjacent farm with whom she shared her team\u2019s findings.<\/p>

<\/div>\n

Martin reported that the farmer accepted the CBH team\u2019s findings.<\/p>\n

Agricultural Extension Officer, Owolabi Elabanjo, who works closely with the Chinese farms, also dismissed the claim that human faeces is being used as fertilizer. He said none of the farms he works with are engaged in this practice.<\/p>\n
