With roots deeply embedded in the Parham community, Tevaughn G. Harriette<\/strong> wields considerable influence \u2013 particularly among the\u00a0 youth \u2013\u00a0 in St. Peter.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

Starring in the No. 1 sport of football, \u201cPeter Redz,\u201d as he is affectionately known, came to leadership early as the captain of the Parham Football Club and as a leading striker for the Antigua & Barbuda National Football Team.\u00a0 When Redz plays, the \u201cThree P\u2019s\u201d come out in their numbers: Parham, Pares and Paynters.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This graduate of the Pares Secondary School declares the pride and affection he still carries by descibring it as \u201cthe best school in the world.\u201d\u00a0 But he longs to see Pares Secondary develop as an institution that turns out not only scholars, but more sportsmen and women of community and national stature.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>
\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Harriette\u2019s secondary education prepared him for the world of work, and he went into the security business after completing school.\u00a0 Three years after he was hired as a supervisor, he had mastered the daily operations of the business and was promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is where the load of the operations and negotiations of keeping the business going were placed on my shoulders,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI had to put my shoulder to the wheel and rise to the occasion in all aspects.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The time, effort, and dynamic approach paid off, and young Harriette was promoted to the position of General Manager two years later.\u00a0 He says, \u201cThese unprecedented times, dealing with COVID-19, have helped to sharpen my management skills,\u201d and these attributes have allowed the company \u201cto still be in existence.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

As a member of the Parham Community Group and the East Boys Promotion, Harriette is deeply concerned about the lack of development in St. Peter after decades of Antigua Labour Party representation.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He believes the community should be further ahead in every aspect \u2013 especially in its infrastructure; in the employment and deployment of its young people; and in the use of its resources \u2013 the land and the ocean \u2013 for the benefit of local residents, and not only for investors.<\/p>

 <\/p>\n

Harriette is also concerned that the elderly are being under-served in the area of health, as the Parham Clinic is in poor condition while Pares has no facility.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Now, as he branches further afield, politically, he is getting to know better the communities of Vernons, Cedar Hill, Fitches Creek-Weirs, Paynters, Gunthorpes, and Lightfoot.\u00a0 And Harriette acknowledges that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the issues plaguing this very diverse constitutency.\u00a0 Therefore, he promises to \u201cconsult with all <\/em>the people\u201d in order to create a collective vision and deliver proper representation to St. Peter.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

He says he speaks for the youth \u2013 as well as the adult population \u2013 when he declares, \u201cNo more of the hand-out mentality.\u201d\u00a0 Instead, he is looking to bring to his constituency \u201cdevelop-mentality.\u201d<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Tevaughn Harriette is convinced that the time for change is now<\/em>, and the agent to bring about that change is the United Progressive Party.\u00a0 As part of \u201cThe Team to Redeem,\u201d he intends to score big for St. Peter<\/p>\n
