Construction work on new facilities to treat heart and kidney patients could get underway this year, Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced.<\/p>

The country\u2019s leader said the cardiac and renal units will offer tertiary health-care services not previously offered in Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Prime Minister Browne said the government hopes to export some of the services to neighbouring islands.<\/p>

\u201cThe\u00a0 health-care facilities here obviously are superior to many within the region,\u201d Browne said.<\/p>

Earlier today, Browne, along with the Minister of Health, Wellness and Environment Molwyn Joseph and Medical Director, Dr. Albert Duncan toured the recently completed Blackburn Polyclinic and Community Center.<\/p>\n

The project is a gift from the People\u2019s Republic of China and will mainly provide local residents with basic medical services, public health services and carry out community service activities.<\/p>
