In order to foster an environment of inclusiveness the government of Antigua and Barbuda through the Parliamentary Select Committee will be hosting a Public Consultation on the Decriminalisation of Marijuana via the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill 2017 on Tuesday 23rd<\/sup> January at 10:30am.<\/p>\n

Attorney General the Steadroy Cutie Benjamin Chairman of the Select Committee and also mover of the Bill is extending an open invitation to the citizenry of Antigua and Barbuda to be part of the Consultation which will be held at the parliament building.<\/p>

Benjamin says that all Rastafarians, community groups, NGO\u2019s, Churches, The Medical Association, Teachers Union, Bar Association, National Youth Council, Substance Abuse Department among other organizations are invited to attend and participate in the discussions.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Decriminalisation of Marijuana via the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill 2017 had its first reading in parliament on December 28th;<\/sup> it was at that time the bill sent to the Select Committee for further consultation with the Public.<\/p>\n

Previous consultations were held in 2017, but nevertheless, the Attorney General agreed that more discussion will be of great benefit to the people in understanding the purpose of the decision being made.<\/p>
