Tropical Depression #Thirteen Advisory 5:<\/p>

Heavy Rains From the Depression Expected Over the Northern Leeward Islands On Friday.<\/p>\n

At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression\r\nThirteen was located near latitude 17.3 North, longitude 56.4 West.\r\nThe depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 22 mph (35\r\nkm\/h), and this motion is expected to continue for the next few \r\ndays. On the forecast track, the depression is expected to move \r\nnear or north of the northern Leeward Islands by late Friday, near \r\nor north of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Saturday, and\r\nnear or north of Hispaniola Saturday night.\r\n\r\nMaximum sustained winds remain near 35 mph (55 km\/h) with higher \r\ngusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast, and the depression is\r\nlikely to become a tropical storm by the weekend.\r\n\r\nThe estimated minimum central pressure based on NOAA Hurricane\r\nHunter data is 1008 mb (29.77 inches).\r\n\r\n\r\nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\r\n----------------------\r\nRAINFALL:  The depression is expected to produce 3 to 6 inches of \r\nrainfall over Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands through Sunday.  \r\nHeavy rainfall associated with the depression may cause mudslides \r\non sensitive slopes and flash and urban flooding through Sunday. \r\nOver the northern Leeward Islands, the Dominican Republic, and \r\nHaiti, 1 to 3 inches of rain with isolated maximum totals of 5 \r\ninches are expected.\r\n\r\nWIND:  Tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch\r\narea late Friday and Saturday.\r\n\r\n\r\nNEXT ADVISORY\r\n-------------\r\nNext intermediate advisory at 200 AM AST.\r\nNext complete advisory at 500 AM AST.\r\n\r\n$$<\/pre>\n
