The UK\u2019s Border Force has donated two portable gas analysers and calibration kits to the Antigua and Barbuda Customs Division valued over EC $4,000.\u00a0 The donation will support Antigua and Barbuda Customs in their endeavours to combat the smuggling of drugs and other contraband across the Caribbean as well as in their efforts to secure the borders of Antigua and Barbuda.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

The provision of these gas analysers is particularly important as Customs Officers operate in a variety of environments and require portable technology that can be transported easily.\u00a0 The gas analysers will also ensure the health and safety of officers.\u00a0 Additionally, it will contribute to the efficiency of containers passing through the port.\u00a0 The equipment will minimise the time that containers are held at the port waiting to be ventilated, which will result in the faster and safer clearance of goods.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Resident British Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda, Ms Lindsy Thompson, formally delivered the equipment to the Comptroller of Customs & Excise Division, Mr Raju Boddu, in a ceremony earlier today.\u00a0 Ms Thompson remarked that \u201cthe donation of this equipment by (UK) Border Force to Antigua and Barbuda Customs is a further example of the continued close collaboration and partnership between the governments of the UK and Antigua and Barbuda\u201d.<\/p>
