The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Barbuda Affairs (MAFBA) is looking forward to a bigger and better PiAngo Fest in 2021, as this year\u2019s event had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, despite this decision, the Planning Committee has embarked on a number of initiatives to keep the interest in the annual event in sharp focus.<\/p>\n

These include the production of short videos to highlight some of the vendors who would have participated in this year\u2019s event, the production of a video highlighting last year\u2019s two-day activity, promotional videos for next year\u2019s event and presentations to the winners of the various competitions, which were held prior, and during PiAngo Fest 2019.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Chairperson of the Planning Committee and Events Coordinator within the Ministry of Agriculture, Ms. Marcelle Freeland said that although the event will not be hosted this year, it is important that some amount of focus be placed on the occasion to build upon the overwhelming interest that was shown last year.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

She also gave kudos to the Vendors who have ensured that the new and exciting revised \u2018PiAngo Fest\u2019 lived up to its name where both pineapples, mangoes and related products dominated the Cades Bay Venue over the two days.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe commend the vendors and the general public for supporting our first \u2018PiAngo Fest\u2019 in such a big way and cherish your interest to continue to support our local products despite the challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic.\u201d<\/p>

She added, \u201cIt is important to keep the interest in this activity alive by highlighting the products and work of our local vendors and producers that work tireless in contributing to food and nutrition security and the arts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture praised the hard work of the committee and assured the public and participants\u00a0 that the high standards will be maintained as the ministry looks ahead to a bigger and better one next year.<\/p>

\u201cWe assure you that once all goes well in fighting this global phenomenon, look out for a bigger and better PiAngo Fest come 2021. Apart from learning about the wide varieties of mangoes and types of pineapple available in Antigua, you will learn about what can be made from both fruits and much more.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>\n

Beginning on Monday, the short videos will be posted on the Ministry of Agriculture and the PiAngo Fest Facebook Pages and highlights will also be placed on local media networks.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the winners of various competitions for PiAngo Fest 2019 will be highlighted and awarded in a presentation designed to observe all COVID-19 Protocols.<\/p>\n

Some of the competitions held during PiAngo Fest 2019 included the agro-processors competition, an essay writing competition among primary school students and the mango-selfie competition.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the planning committee has already begun favourable discussions to recognize and award an outstanding individual each year at the PiAngo Fest, who has played a significant role in ensuring the success of the Mango Fest\/PiAngo Fest over the years.<\/p>\n
