Sandals Resorts International through its in-depth and extensive training programmes has been \u2018teaching its team members to fish\u2019 for years now, and three young Antiguan butlers are about to use their exclusive training when they travel to help support the Sandals Royal Bahamian Luxury Resort in Nassau.<\/p>

Kevin Christopher, Sheldon Gomes and Daren Joseph are employed as Butlers at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa; and were hand-picked to travel to the sister hotel in Bahamas to help beef up the Butler team there.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI understand the team there is very young. I am looking to take the good service down there, to put what I learnt here into practice and to help them, so we can work as one team,\u201d Joseph said.<\/p>\n

Christopher, who has been a butler since 2009, shared similar sentiments. He said what he will bring to the Bahamas is a love for people.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cSandals is a company of love. You could come to work one day and not be feeling one hundred percent but we have been blessed to have the best staff members here. So as soon as you step in the atmosphere you feel the love and you are transformed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to take the love that we have here to the Bahamas with the professionalism and the training that Sandals has invested in me and the others.\u201d<\/p>

Trained by the Guild of Professional English Butlers, at Sandals, the Butler Service is regarded as the epitome of guest service and satisfaction. Many team members aspire to become butlers.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

For Joseph, he started at the very bottom of the organisational chart and worked his way up to the coveted position. Beginning as a Houseman in the Housekeeping department in 2003, Joseph impressed his manager and was recommended for a bellhop position in the Front Office department as soon as it became available.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom there, I moved on as a club sandals agent and then a butler after that. I have been a butler for 5 years and been with the hotel for 14 years,\u201d he noted proudly.<\/p>\n

Gomes, like his colleague, started at Sandals Antigua, humbly, as a restaurant server in 2006. However, in an impressive first eight months, he impressed his supervisors and guests a like.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe butler (manager) at the time said they heard all the good reviews and the guests\u2019 feedback and I would be a good person to be in the butler service,\u201d Gomes said.<\/p>\n

With a laugh, he noted that his manager at the time was not pleased to let his \u2018A\u2019 player go.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut Cynthia (Lewis) was my supervisor at the time and she really pushed me and encouraged me to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

With support from his wife and two children, Gomes said is looking forward to the new opportunity.<\/p>\n

General Manager Gaurav Sindhi proudly recommended the three young men for the assignment, noting that Sandals creates opportunities for growth and travel for many of its employees.<\/p>\n

\u201cKevin, Sheldon and Daren are rock stars for the guests. They provide the high level of service that we expect at Sandals but they also go above and beyond to make the guests satisfied,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know they will be an asset to the team in Bahamas but we also know that they will develop and become better team members as a result of this experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
