The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) would like to assure the public of its readiness for the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season.<\/strong><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Earlier in the year, we began our preparation by ensuring additional resources were secured and stocked in the event of infrastructural damage to our network.<\/p>\n

We would like to reaffirm our established Storm\/Hurricane protocols:
\n\u2022 The APUA Water Business Unit has activated its hurricane preparedness plan whereby water is
\npresently being channeled to the various water storage facilities across the island. Persons are
\nalso reminded that sea conditions affect our ability to produce water, as such, water production
\nwill commence once sea conditions have calmed.
\n\u2022 The APUA Electricity Business Unit will try its best to maintain power distribution throughout the
\npassage of the storm providing it is safe to do so. Any disruption in service will be addressed after
\nthe storm. Customers who may experience any light flickering or voltage fluctuation are urged to
\nswitch off their main electrical breaker.
\n\u2022 The APUA Telecommunications Business Unit would like to remind customers to unplug modems
\nand other communication devices to prevent damage due to power surges caused by lightning.
\nPlease preserve your mobile phone battery during a storm and activate your phone\u2019s energy
\nsaving mode. Please do not attempt to sever telephone wires that are hanging low.
\n\u2022 After the storm, once APUA receives the all clear from our Met Office a thorough assessment of
\nthe electricity network will be conducted in order to begin service restoration. Restoration will be
\nhandled according to the established guidelines and in the safest and most efficient way.
\nWe thank our customers for their patience and understanding and wish for their continued safety during
\nthe storm.<\/p>
