A Wireless Road family who was allegedly involved in an altercation with police on December 11, 2016, are scheduled to come before the courts\u00a0next Monday<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0for trial.<\/span><\/p>

Hezekiah Parker Jr. and his parents Mary Cynthia Parker and Hezekiah Parker Sr. were charged with several offences related to the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police reported while officers were on mobile patrol near Wireless Road they spotted Parker Jr. in a vehicle, which came to a stop outside his home.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

The officers said he was then seen hustling from the car while clutching to his trousers in a suspicious manner.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The law enforcers reportedly gave chase and managed to hold him outside his home where a struggle ensued.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police reported they found a loaded 9mm Colt Luger Pistol concealed in his waist.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Investigators also allege the mother and father exited the house and joined in the struggle.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parker Sr., a former Sergeant of Police, allegedly grabbed hold of one of the officer\u2019s firearm and attempted to pull the trigger.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, it is reported the gun did not go off since the safety feature was still activated.<\/span><\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Police reported during the struggle the officers sustained injuries about their bodies and also had their clothes torn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parker Jr. was later charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition while the parents were charged with several counts of obstructing police in the course of their duty and battery on police.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cynthia Parker was also charged with malicious damage and Parker Sr. was additionally charged for attempting to discharge a firearm to prevent the lawful apprehension of his son.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0The charge of attempting to discharge a firearm to prevent the lawful apprehension of someone is indictable so can only be tried in the High Court. Committal proceedings for this matter are set for March.<\/span><\/p>\n

The family has denied the charges.<\/span><\/p>\n
