Irfaan Ali will be declared the ninth President of Guyana, Justice (ret\u2019d) Claudette Singh, the chair of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) decided on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Justice Singh, at a meeting of the Commission, suggested that she will make a declaration based on the results of the National Vote Recount which showed the People\u2019s Progressive Party beat APNU+AFC by 15, 416 votes.<\/p>

She will be asking the Chief Elections Officer to prepare a report according to the figures produced from the recount.<\/p>

Justice Singh said she has no power to annul the elections as called for by APNU+AFC and said that that party\u2019s concerns could be addressed in a court action.<\/p>\n
