The Central Board of Health has released guidelines by which Food Service Establishments should operate.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Below are the guidelines.<\/p>\n

Employees MUST NOT report to work if they have symptoms of COVID-19,
\nincluding fever, respiratory symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath or
\nloss of the sense of taste\/smell. If in doubt call the COVID Hotline at 462-6843
\nIf an employee is sick send them home immediately. Clean and disinfect
\nsurfaces in their work place. Others at the facility with close contact (i.e. within
\n6ft) of the employee during this time is considered exposed.
\nInstruct employees who are well, but know they have been exposed to COVID19 to notify their supervisor
\nEmployees absent from work due to suspected COVID-19, MUST NOT return
\nto work unless cleared by a Medical Doctor.
\nInform fellow employees of their possible exposure to COVID-19 in the work
\nplace, if an employee is confirmed to have COVID-19, while maintaining
\nconfidentiality.
\nImplement workplace control to reduce transmission among employees
\nWorkers with a cough, runny nose, jaundice, diarrhea, vomiting, should not be
\npermitted at work.

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

er the use of a touchless infrared thermometer to check
\nthe temperature of their employees each day before they enter. Any person who
\nhas a temperature of 99\u00b0F and above, should not be allowed to return until
\nthey have no fever and no evidence of COVID-19 symptoms. *Follow guidelines
\non Taking Temperature
\nWearing of a facemask is mandatory by all employees. The face mask must
\ncover your nose and mouth.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

All Employees MUST perform hand hygiene before entering and leaving the
\nworkplace. Hands must be washed under running water using liquid soap for a
\nminimum of 20 seconds. A hand hygiene station must be places at the
\nentrance for the customers. An alcohol based hand rub of 70% can be provided
\nFood handlers DO NOT have the option of replacing hand washing with hand
\nsanitizers. Food handlers MUST wash their hands under running water using
\nliquid soap for a minimum of 20 seconds
\nDiscourage customers from bringing pets into the restaurant, stores or waiting
\narea
\nFood Hygiene Guidance
\n\uf0b7 COVID-19 is a respiratory illness and is not known to be transmitted by
\nexposure to food.
\n\uf0b7 Although it is very unlikely that coronavirus is transmitted through food,
\nas a matter of good hygiene practice, everyone handling food should
\nwash their hands often with liquid soap and water for at least 20
\nseconds. This should be done as a matter of routine, before and after
\nhandling food, and especially after being in a public place, blowing their
\nnose, coughing, or sneezing.
\n\uf0b7 Food Service Establishments should follow the 5 Keys to Food Safety
\n\uf0b7 Ensure that food reach the proper internal temperature prior to service,
\nor cooling
\n\uf0b7 Ensure that hot food are cooled rapidly for later use, check temperature
\nof food being cooled in refrigerator or by raid cooling techniques such as
\nice baths and cooling wands
\n\uf0b7 Proper training for food employees
\n\uf0b7 If you donate food to charitable organisations, check with the local health
\ndepartment. (Central Board of Health)<\/p>\n

Food preparation guidance is intended to ensure that staff follows good hygiene
\npractices to prevent the spread of diseases to food. Key safety points include:
\n\uf0b7 being fit for work
\n\uf0b7 washing hands for at least 20 seconds with liquid soap and water
\n\uf0b7 wearing aprons and clean clothing
\n\uf0b7 avoiding touching eyes, nose, mouth
\n\uf0b7 using gloves to avoid bare hand contact with food
\n\uf0b7 covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue and discard properly after
\nuse, then wash of hands.

\n\uf097 Touching hair, body or clothing
\n\uf097 Changing task
\n\uf097 Handling money
\n\uf097 Using a cell phone
\n\uf097 Taking out the garbage
\n\uf097 Leaving preparation area
\n\uf097 Handling chemicals
\n\uf097 Handling raw meat, poultry or seafood
\n\uf097 Sneezing, coughing, using handkerchief or tissue
\n\uf097 Smoking, eating, drinking, chewing tobacco or gum
\n\uf097 Removing dirty plates, cutleries, cuts from dining tables
\nDining Area:
\n\uf0b7 Containers holding condiments such as ketchup, mustard, sugar etc
\nshould be removed from the public access. Takeaway packets can be
\ngiven upon request
\n\uf0b7 Place marks on the seats and on the floor. These 6ft apart markers will
\nserve to guide patrons to maintain a safe distance from one another
\nwhen dining and making purchases.
\n\uf0b7 Minimize crowding by limiting the number of patrons inside the food
\nestablishment by offering online ordering, calls or text message.
\n\uf0b7 To minimize crowding in the dining room appointments services can be
\noffered
\n\uf0b7 Discontinue the operation of Salad Bars, Buffets and Beverage Stations
\nthat require customers to use common utensils. This can be replaced by
\nhaving this service provided by the employees
\nGuidelines for Food Service Establishments

\nCleaning and Sanitizing
\nFrequently clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are highly touched,
\nusing your standard cleaning products. Food businesses can refer to Central
\nBoard of Health Facebook Page for a list of approved disinfectants.
\nFrequently disinfect surfaces repeatedly touched by employees or customers
\nsuch as door knobs, equipment handles, check-out counters, tables, chairs
\nand grocery cart handles, etc.
\nFrequently clean and disinfect the floor, walls, equipment and other facility
\narea
\nWash, rinse, and sanitize food contact surfaces dishware, utensils, food
\npreparation surfaces, and beverage equipment after use. Use 1 tablespoon (1
\ncap) of Clorox to 1 gallon of water. Do not mix chemicals!
\nVerify that your dish-washing machines are operating at the required wash and
\nrinse temperatures and with the appropriate detergents and sanitizers.
\nHot water can be used in placed of chemicals to sanitize equipment and
\nutensils<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Social distancing
\nThe advice on social distancing measures applies to everyone. You need to
\nminimise opportunities for the virus to spread by maintaining a distance of 2
\nmetres between individuals. This advice applies to both inside the food
\nbusiness and in the external public areas where customers may need to queue.
\nPeople should be reminded to wash their hands for 20 seconds and more
\nfrequently than normal. Employer should provide hand sanitizers for
\ncustomers throughout the establishment.
\nA few general indicators may be relevant to the majority of retail outlets:
\n\uf0b7 use additional signage to ask customers not to enter the shop if they
\nhave symptoms
\n\uf0b7 regulate entry so that the premises do not become overcrowded
\n\uf0b7 Establish designated pick up zones for customers to facilitate physical
\ndistancing
\n\uf0b7 use floor markings inside the commercial spaces to facilitate compliance
\nwith the social distancing advice of 2 metres, particularly in the most
\ncrowded areas, such as serving counters and cashiers
\n\uf0b7 make regular announcements to remind customers to follow social
\ndistancing advice and clean their hands regularly
\n\uf0b7 place plexi-glass barriers at counters if feasible, as an additional element
\nof protection for workers and customers
\n\uf0b7 encourage the use of contactless payments where possible, without
\ndisadvantaging older or vulnerable customers
\n\uf0b7 provide additional pop-up hand washing stations or facilities if possible,
\nproviding soap, water and hand sanitizer
\n\uf0b7 Discontinue self service operations, such as salad bars, buffets, and
\nbeverage service stations that require customers to use common utensils
\nor dispensers. Have the employees off these services
\nMaintaining Social Distancing in Specific Food Business Settings
\nSupermarkets
\nSupermarkets need to avoid crowding and create adequate spacing between
\nindividuals.
\nEffective measures to support this will vary by store and location but could
\ninclude:
\n\uf0b7 monitoring the number of customers within store and limiting access to
\navoid congestion
\n\uf0b7 implementing queue management systems to limit crowds gathering at
\nentrances and maintain the 2 metres distance
\n\uf0b7 Have a hand hygiene station at the entrance of the supermarket
\nequipped with liquid soap.<\/p>\n

Staff Lunch Room and Rest Areas
\nIt is very unlikely that coronavirus is transmitted through food. Workplace
\ncanteens may remain open where there are no practical alternatives for staff to
\nobtain food.
\n\uf0b7 as far as reasonably possible, a distance of 2 metres should be
\nmaintained between users
\n\uf0b7 staff can continue to use rest areas if they apply the same social
\ndistancing
\n\uf0b7 notices promoting hand hygiene and social distancing should be placed
\nvisibly in these areas
\n\uf0b7 if possible, increase the number of hand washing stations available
\nOutdoor Food Markets and Farmers Markets
\nThe main concern with outdoor food markets is to avoid crowds gathering.
\nAdditionally, all vendors must have a temporary hand-wash station at their
\nrespective stalls. We encourage food market operators to consider how they can
\nsafely sell their products without encouraging crowds and ensure hygiene
\nmeasures are in place. This can be done by:
\n\uf0b7 taking orders online or by telephone in advance and pre-packing orders
\nto limit face-to-face time in the market
\n\uf0b7 considering delivery services if possible
\nFood Delivery Service
\n\uf0b7 Practice social distancing when delivering food, e.g., offering \u201cno touch\u201d
\ndeliveries and sending text alerts or calling when deliveries have arrived.
\n\uf0b7 Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold by storing in appropriate
\ntransport equipment\/vessels.
\n\uf0b7 Keep cold foods cold by keeping enough coolant materials, e.g., gel
\npacks.
\n\uf0b7 Keep hot foods hot by ensuring insulated cases are properly functioning.
\n\uf0b7 Ensure that any wrapping and packaging used for food transport is done
\nso that contamination of the food is prevented.
\n\uf0b7 Routinely clean and sanitize coolers and insulated bags used to deliver
\nfoods.
\n\uf0b7 Increase the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting of high-touch
\nsurfaces within the vehicle by wiping down surfaces using a regular
\nhousehold cleaning spray or wipe.<\/p>
