Twenty individuals, who are physically incapacitated, will be beneficiaries of an adjustable and portable hospital bed donated by the Rotary Club of Antigua.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The goal of the program is to offer these persons who are confined to bed, as well as their caregivers the flexibility of care in the form of a hospital type bed in the comfort of the home.<\/p>\n

Dubbed \u201cA Bed at Home\u201d, the project was officially launched on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 and is one of the signature projects for President of the Rotary Club of Antigua, Dr. Vanetta Rodgers.<\/p>

\"\"<\/p>\n

After reviewing the applications, the successful recipients were selected based on a needs assessment which was conducted by senior members of the Rotary Club of Antigua.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to have officially handed over three beds with four more to be handed over shortly.\u00a0 We are blessed to have a team, headed by the Club\u2019s Service Project Director, Kirk Francis, to assist with assembling and transporting the beds for the selected recipients\u201d, explained President Vanetta.<\/p>\n

President Vanetta expresses sincerest gratitude to the Mill Reef Fund for its contribution to the \u2018Bed at Home\u2019 program and to Mr. Gregory Georges, Chief Executive Office of the West Indies Oil Company, for facilitating storage of the beds at the company\u2019s facility.<\/p>

The bed comprises a lightweight, full rail, adjustable, electrical unit along with a mattress, crank and battery backup in the event of a power failure. The user will be able to adjust the bed easily with the hand pendant which has large and easy to use controls.<\/p>\n

The end result is that the hospital type bed offers the user better positioning, comfort and the flexibility to get in and out of the bed with relative ease.<\/p>
