Antigua and Barbuda is one of the best places to live right now, especially for people in need of health care during the COVID-19\u00a0 pandemic.<\/p>

It\u2019s something Prime Minister Gaston Browne is hoping residents will come to appreciate.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us not forget, here in Antigua and Barbuda, unlike other countries, for about 11 different ailments, people don\u2019t pay for medicines. You have to say they get them for free,\u201d the Prime Minister said on\u00a0Pointe FM\u2019s Browne and Browne Show<\/strong>.<\/p>

\u201cIf they want to say they pay a tax to medical benefits I understand, but there\u2019s no additional cost at this point. Even if someone is unemployed right now and he or she needs medicines for hypertension, for diabetes or for high cholesterol and other ailments, they get their medicines for free.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The Prime Minister said in Antigua and Barbuda, even if someone is presently unemployed or becomes unemployed, they don\u2019t have to find money to buy medicines for these ailments.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Mount St John\u2019s, our people get treated for free,\u201d Browne stressed.<\/p>

\u201cSo, health care in Antigua and Barbuda is practically free, which means that our people are not as vulnerable as in other countries even in the Caribbean where they have to go and pay for health care and they have to pay for medicines.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I have said, what we really need to do is to make sure people eat during this period, and the last thing we want is to give them cash and people go and spend the money to do their nails rather than feeding their children. At least we know when we give them food that they will take care of themselves and their children,\u201d Browne added.<\/p>
