A local gas station operator was found not guilty of sex with an underage girl after the complaint testified her allegation was a lie.<\/p>

The girl was 13 years old went she told police the man had sex with her at his home on June 15, 2018.<\/p>\n

The man was charged with sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 14, which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

When the now 15-year-old complainant took the stand, she told the court her mother had beaten her that day for being disrespectful.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The girl testified she was angry with her mother and she and female friend went into town and decided they would not return to their homes.<\/p>\n

The girl said her friend suggested they go by the defendant\u2019s house to spend the night.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

She said they lied to the man telling him they were 18 and 19 years old.<\/p>\n

The girl testified the man allowed them to stay in a little house with a bedroom at the side of his home.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

She said while there, the found alcohol in the refrigerator, which they drank, and she became drunk and fell asleep.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The complainant said the man later came and told them he would drop them to town early the next morning.<\/p>\n

At that point in her testimony, the complaint asked if she could say something, then remarked, \u201cI put a lie on the paper\u201d.<\/p>\n

When asked what the lie was, she replied, \u201cI say he had sex with me but he not\u201d.<\/p>\n

When questioned by the court about the reason she lied, the complainant said earlier in the day they had gone by her friend\u2019s boyfriend.<\/p>\n

She said her friend had sex with her boyfriend and was worried her mom would find out and her boyfriend would get arrested.<\/p>\n

The complainant said the friend suggested they go by the defendant\u2019s home and say he had sex with them to protect her boyfriend.<\/p>\n

In light of the complainant\u2019s testimony, the prosecution said they would offer no further evidence in the case and the judge directed the jury to find the defendant not guilty.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
