Dwayne \u201cLittle Man\u201d Joseph walked free of a murder charge today after the prosecution\u2019s main witness denied key parts of his statement to police.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Prosecutors had alleged Joseph handed Ziggy Beazer a gun moments before Beazer shot Jermaine \u201cSix Months\u201d Destin in his head on March 18, 2013.<\/p>\n

Destin died on the spot following the shooting, which occurred around 6:30pm on Athill Street in Villa.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Prosecutors were using the principle of joint enterprise to convict both men of the alleged murder.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

However, when the main witness, Ingram Carson Matthew aka \u201cUppercut\u201d took the stand this morning, he denied telling police he witnessed the shooting.<\/p>\n

Matthew, who testified he knew Joseph and Beazer all their lives, said about 15 minutes before the incident, he saw Joseph walking on Athill Street.<\/p>

However, he denied Beazer was with him despite this appearing in his signed statement to police.<\/p>\n

The witness said he later heard a loud sound and saw people running so he ran too.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He said when he got back to the area, he saw a man lying in a pool of blood.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The court allowed the prosecution to treat the witness as \u201chostile\u201d since his testimony differed significantly from what was in his written statement.<\/p>\n

When questioned about what was in the statement, Matthew denied telling police he saw Beazer putting a handkerchief over his face before Joseph handed him a gun.<\/p>\n

He also died seeing Beazer walking over to Destin and shooting him in his head.<\/p>\n

Matthew, who told the court he is only now learning to read, said when police read his statement to him in 2013, it did not say he witnessed the shooting.<\/p>\n

Following Matthew\u2019s evidence, prosecutors discontinued the case and the judge directed the jury to formally find Joseph not guilty of murder.<\/p>\n

Joseph , who had been in custody since 2013, walked out the courtroom a free man.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Beazer and Joseph were initially charged jointly with murder but last year Beazer was found unfit to stand trial due to mental health issues.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The court separated the cases last month so that Joseph could be tried while Beazer undergoes treatment.<\/div>\n
