Antigua State College (ASC) Acting Principal, Na-Ajele Williams-Buffonge, has been placed on \u201cforced special administrative leave\u201d as of Monday because of an alleged conflict between her and Minister of Education Michael Browne.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Just two months ago, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had announced the appointment of Williams- Buffonge as acting principal, Antigua State College.<\/p>\n

She was appointed from a field of five applicants, who were all screened by senior officials
\nwithin the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The Public Service Commission
\nsubsequently approved her appointment, effective 18th December 2019.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

Mrs. Williams-Buffonge had previously served Antigua State College as head of the liberal arts department.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Now, the acting principal is being put on leave for reasons described as \u201cinsubordination\u201d and a \u201crift\u201d between herself and Browne.<\/p>\n

This “rift” has reportedly stemmed from the alleged refusal of Williams-Buffonge to sign off on a directive by Browne, causing an investigation to be initiated.<\/p>

When contacted, Williams-Buffonge declined to comment on the matter under the advice of her legal counsel.<\/p>\n
