The Ministry of Works and Housing is reporting a certain setback at the Burma Quarry is preventing the facility from operating at its normal capacity but the Bendals Quarry is presently operational.<\/p>\n

The initial plan included producing stone that would be utilised during the full implementation of the Road Infrastructure and Rehabilitation Project scheduled to begin within the first quarter of 2018.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Acting Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Works and Housing, Clarance Pilgrim said:<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Works is in the process of dealing with a manufacture fault which developed at the Burma Quarry that is hampering operations there,\u201d adding that \u201cwithin the shortest possible time, the multi-million dollar aggregate crushing facility will be fully operational.<\/p>\n

I am pleased to report that the new component has since been ordered by the manufacturer and will be on island and installed by mid-January of 2018.\u201d Mr Pilgrim concluded.<\/p>

Works and Housing Engineers have stated that the limitation is caused by a manufacturing defect with metal detector mechanism of the plant.<\/p>\n

In the meantime,<\/strong> Works and Housing Engineers are continuing asphalt patching and concrete drains works across the island with workforce remaining busy into the holiday season and beyond.<\/p>

Therefore, there is a call for drivers to be mindful of the Road Construction Engineers whose lives are at risk working to improve the condition of the island\u2019s road network.<\/p>
