The Dominica government says it will be donating 10,000 masks to China as the country fights the spread of the Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak that has killed more than 1,000 people in the Asian country.<\/p>

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is also urging \u201call nations to work diligently\u201d with Beijing as it combats the virus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government of Dominica wishes to say to all nations that this is not a time for nations to take decisions in an effort to isolate the People\u2019s Republic of China,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cWe say to our steadfast friends, the People\u2019s Republic of China, that Dominica stands by your side in this hour of great difficulty.\u201d<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Health Minister Dr Irvin McIntyre told Parliament that the island would soon be able to carry out testing for the virus with the assistance of the US-based Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be the only country in the Caribbean that can test for Coronavirus. No other country in the Caribbean can do this,\u201d he said.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

He said the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) on Friday gave the island 80 per cent preparedness to deal with the virus, adding that this is much higher than some other Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States countries.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, McIntrye has denied an outbreak of tuberculosis\u00a0saying last year there were 11 cases and this year, so far, the island recorded five cases.<\/p>

On the issue of dengue, McIntyre, a medical practitioner, said\u00a0last year the island recorded 30 cases per week, but it has been reduced to 11 this year.<\/p>
