The Comptroller of the Customs and Excise Division, Raju Boddu, revealed that despite receiving death threats he is not deterred from doing his job.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cI am not coward\u2026 If I have to die, I\u2019ll die for the sake of the country, what better an honour there can be\u2026to die for your country and the people you love,\u201d said Raju Boddu.<\/p>\n

Boddu, along with a customs investigative team, has been probing $3.2 million of revenue lost as a result of an alleged brokerage fraud. The broker, the department said, had been using someone else\u2019s name to clear goods without exemptions.<\/p>

\"\"<\/div>\n

The alleged broker, who may have begun defrauding the Customs and Excise Division over two and a half years ago, maybe facing criminal litigation as soon as next month.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

According to Boddu, the investigation has caused the public to question his allegiance to Antigua and Barbuda, claiming that some of his own workers have leaked internal information because of their personal misgivings.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody has an agenda here. They want to pursue their own agendas so they won\u2019t hesitate to even assassinate somebody, character-wise,” he explained.<\/p>

\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

\u201cThey won\u2019t hesitate to even physically kill if needed because there were threats that they are going to finish me and my family if I make [say] a word. I am not worried about all these threats but I\u2019m talking about the hatred that is in the human man,\u201d said Boddu.<\/p>\n

Boddu also put on blast, the media for what he believes is divisive and unconstructive criticism of the department\u2019s internal affairs.<\/p>

He claims that the media has done nothing but try to \u201cprovoke\u201d and \u201clure\u201d him.<\/p>
