NOTICE: Road Work to Begin on Sir. George Walter Highway

This serves as notice to allow for the safety of road users during construction works associated with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda’s Road Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project which is a grant being provided by the United Kingdom Caribbean Infrastructure Partnership Fund (UKCIF).

The project will begin at phase (1) – from V.C Bird International Airport to The Solar Energy Farm.

           Monday to Friday: 7:00am to 5:30pm | Saturday: 7:00am to 1:00pm 

Proposed to begin: 28th March 2018: Reduced width Lanes: Sir George Walter Highway – Eastbound between the Airport & the Solar Energy Farm (Flag people will institute a stop and go system) Working southwards along the edge of the northbound lane. Two way traffic will be maintained.

       DURATION: approximately five days (a different section each day)

ONLY A SECTION OF THE LANE ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF THE ROAD WILL REMAIN CLOSED. The eastern lane of the road will remain open. Passage north and southbound will be maintained throughout.  Road users are urged to exercise extreme caution when traversing in the construction site.  Warning signs will be visible for all road users who are being asked to proceed with caution for the duration of the road works. There will be workers in high visibility reflective gear at the road closure and flag people will be there to direct traffic. Local access will be maintained for road users who are residents and individuals conducting business at the business places within the closed lane.
