Most recently, 27-year-old Joann Athanaze, a mother of two, was diagnosed with Lupus. Lupus is a condition in which our immune system attacks healthy tissue in addition to bacteria and germs. As a result, the entire body breaks down. In Joann’s case, the condition has already affected her kidneys and is causing her body to retain fluid. With an adverse reaction to her medication, additional complications have been added to her condition which requires further medical evaluation and treatment which is not provided on the island.
To date, a group of family and friends have undertaken the responsibility in raising funds to assist Joann in off setting her medical expenses. However, we are still in need of further assistance. With such a desire, we write in sincere gratitude requesting your contribution to bring this to a reality.
The fundraiser for Joann Athanaze will be held on Saturday, May 5th.
