APUA eplains APC’s prolonged power outage

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) would like to advise customers that the Antigua Power Company’s (APC) 50 MW plant was de-energized between the hours of 12 midnight and 6:00 am Wednesday April 25th, 2018 to accommodate upgrades to the control and monitoring system.

This Plant outage exceeded the scheduled period and more load shedding occurred than expected. At 7:30AM, subsequent to the completion of the upgrade at the Plant, circuits were closed and the system returned to normal.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and would like to extend gratitude for the patience and understanding of our customers as we strive to provide an improved service.
