Animal welfare advocates are demanding answers from Royalton Antigua over the fate of a mother dog and her puppies believed to have been born on the resort’s property.

Activists issued a public call on Thursday for the hotel to provide proof that the animals are alive, saying the dogs knew no home other than the resort grounds. The appeal circulated widely on social media, prompting supporters to mobilize.

Advocates also called on members of Dogs and Cats of Antigua and other animal lovers to gather outside the resort’s gates at noon, carrying signs and placards to draw attention to the issue.

Organizers urged the public, including international travelers considering the hotel, to share the call for accountability, arguing that vulnerable animals deserve protection and transparency. As of publication, Royalton Antigua had not publicly responded to the claims.

  1. Busybodies in action again! The resort doesn’t owe anyone an explanation for stray dogs on their property. If someone saw the hotel mistreating the animals or harming them, that is another matter. This seems like a calculated attack on the Resort. What y’all need to focus on is the practice of stealing dogs that belong to residents and exporting them for cash.

  2. The same advocates if they knew the dog was on the premises should have found suitable shelter for it already. Hotel premises are not a suitable shelter for the dog especially with the risk of fleas and ticks to human personnel. They need to take their outrage somewhere else!!!!

  3. This arise from couple guests staying at Royalton, they were told the dogs n puppies are in a shelter, they even called the shelter n was told the same thing n that they’re ok but still find the need to create problems here. Why dont they collect n take them with them to there country if they felt that harm will come to the dogs.. what , they think caribbean ppl are that cruel to take dogs n kill them.

  4. What if these dogs bite someone? It seems like they have been monitoring the dogs but have they made any effort to get these animals treated against any of the common diseases to which dogs are susceptible? This is going to end much like the donkey-for-profit program.
