Alleged Fake Passport Bio Pages Case Dismissed by Judge, Prosecution Plans Retrial

Judge Tunde Bakre dismissed the case involving the alleged creation of fake passport bio pages.

The defense argued that the judge lacked authority to try the case without a jury, and the judge concurred.

Consequently, the accused – former police superintendent Ray John, his ex-partner Shakema Charles, and Vincentian resident Lonzel Jones – were discharged.

However, the prosecution intends to retry the case in the next assizes.

      Misinformation always leads to confusion.

      Ruled a ‘NULLITY’ as the
      Prosecutor and Judge appeared not to have followed procedures specified in the Law.

  4. SMH….I would not question the judges decision on his interpretation of the law, however how was this case allowed to go the route of judge only trial? Did no one but the defense recognize that the judge had no jurisdiction here???sigh!!! Arwe tyrd!

  7. This matter isn’t coming back before the court. I’m very certain of it, some legal ramblings will take place for a few days, then the matter is dead.

  10. But why wasn’t this matter tried before a judge and jury in the first place. What kind of prosecution team do we have bringing these matters before the courts? This is the very reason that people have lost confidence in the judicial system. It always seem to favour some while crushing the poor and downtrodden.

Then, if and when, the next trial comes around, the defense team[by the way, does the defense legal team headed by a former Commissioner Of Police; and, if this is the case, was the then C.O.P. in command of Ray John; then, wouldn’t this in some way means, that he’d would have had information about the investigation(s), only privy to the police?]; any which way, again, if and when this case comes before, the Courts again, this time for a Jury and Judge Trial, will the defense claim, that the Jury Pool is tainted, and the accused cannot receive a fair trial, in Antigua?

  13. Today I was listening to the talk show hosts rant about how Donald Trump has been given a bye by the Supreme Court of the mighty United States of America. Most are convinced that the judges that Trump managed to get on the Supreme Court came through for him.

    Your first question is, that is happening in the great US of A? Are they saying that the judges are partisan, and that they are paying back the Donald for getting them where they are?

    So if that could happen there, what do we say about here? Did the judge only trial happen to become popular because they knew this case would be coming up after that unlawful decision? As humans, we are the rottenest specie that has ever walked this earth.

    We remember Judge Blenman and how fast she exited the chamber after her volatile decision. All we have to do is pray that the one we happen to come up in front of still remembers the oath of fairness and impartiality they took.

    You can’t even rely on the guys in the black gowns for justice these days

  14. We all knew this would happen. Conspiracy theorists would say that this case and a few others are the reason why the process to find amd employ a proper DPP is taking so long..Case after case will continue to be thrown out until we get an experienced DPP. But that does not serve the needs of the masters.

  15. Are those people in the DPP Office,so inept.They did not know under the Laws of the Nation.Such charges brought on the Defendants must be adjudicated by a Jury Panel.I am here laughing at them for being caught with their draws pulled down.What a damn shame, very shameful.

  18. Ray John hope you seeing this and know how to roll. These people done judge you even before your case call. But ah nah man run things. Ah God. You serve the public for years . You did a good job with the task force. I am sure them boys miss you. No one will say this but congratulations. I hope you learn from that. Keep your head up and don’t let politicians use you. Just know is not everybody want to see you go down. Some of us out there with you.
