Police arrested and charged 54yr-old Halstead Frith of Grays Farm on Tuesday with Arson. The former Jonas Road resident is accused of setting fire to a 22×35 three bedroom wooden structure, which he once occupied with his former girlfriend and her two children.
It is alleged that on Monday 8th May, the accused and his former girlfriend were involved in a heated argument over a cellular phone. It is reported that the incident escalated to the point where she made a complaint at All Saints Police Station. An investigation was launched into the mater, and because of the aggressive behaviour of the accused, he was arrested and taken into custody to prevent a further breach of the peace. However, he was released the following morning, pending further investigations into the matter. The accused allegedly went home, and shortly afterwards returned to All Saints Police Station and reported that their home was on fire.
Firefighters from All Saints Fire Station responded to the report and were able extinguished the blaze. No one was at home at the time of the incident; however the house was completely destroyed. He was subsequently arrested and charged for offences unrelated to the incident, and was granted bail in the Court. He is due before the Court on Thursday on the current charge.
