ABAA enforces ground transportation regulations at VC Bird International Airport

In keeping with our commitment to passenger safety and consumer protection within the ground transportation operations at V. C. Bird International Airport, please be advised that, effective December 1st, 2025, all unauthorized vehicles for hire are prohibited from collecting passengers at the Airport.

This enforcement applies exclusively to vehicles operating for hire, including, but not limited to, taxis, limousines, shuttles, and rental cars. Meeters and greeters collecting friends, family members, or known business associates may continue to do so without restriction.

Please note that Airbnb hosts and similar accommodation operators are not authorized to pick up guests at V. C. Bird International Airport.

All taxis, limousines, shuttles, rental car agencies, and any other transportation services operating for hire must be authorized by the Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) to ensure the safety and protection of our passengers and guests.

Passenger drop-off remains permitted for all vehicles, and hotels registered and approved through the ABAA Fast Track Program may continue to collect their arriving guests.

Currently, V. C. Bird International Airport is served by a robust network of transportation providers authorized to accommodate the nearly 500,000 guests who arrive each year. These include 70 taxis, 19 car rental agencies, 9 tour operators, and 3 limousine companies.

A limited number of additional permits may be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Ms. Geneva George at [email protected] or 268-484-2303 for further information.

Please note that successful applicants must satisfy several requirements, including background checks, minimum vehicle-condition standards, recurring customer-service training, and strict adherence to established fares.

  1. Friend and company is written all over this, survival of the fittest is written all over this, under the table is written all over this. When you need a letter from an association without proper regulations as to retirement age and family benefits taking priority over actual qualifications then what do we expect? I don’t see any supermarket association or restaurant association yet you have to jump through a hoop to get one letter just to go up transport board and if you don’t have any letter then dog nyam ya supper. It should be one plate per person and transport board should be the only entity allowed to issue place in conjunction with the business establishment where the taxi operation would be operating from. Too much bad minded people a run the association as you will here none space they and when you look people a get pick on, left right and center. Just give me a break

  2. Air bnb host not being authorized to pick up their guests is one of the dumbest policies I’ve heard all year… Well done to the genius who came up with that idea and winning the award on that one.

  3. so the people that coming to Antigua that dont know Antigua that coming to stay in my BnB should tell what to the taxi man?

  4. I travel on a budget. If only official taxis are allowed, I hope they keep the fares reasonable. Sometimes rides in other countries get very expensive if there’s no competition.

  6. This is bullshit to the highest. Most of the time, I wonder who the advisors are for some of these so-called high-ranking individuals.

If I have a guest house, you are telling me that I can’t pick up my guest unless I apply to your organization for a permit to do so. They are only here because the book to stay at my guesthouse. You all are such duncy-heads, simpletons.

Too many people in this country want to give advice, without proper knowledge and researching before opening their mouths to spit. Better you’ll had asked AI for advice before coming out with this “BULL-SHIT” on an international platform.

QUESTION: Are you sure this is to ensure the safety and protection of your passengers and our(MY) guests, or to ensure that your friends and family’s pockets are never empty?

You all are a group of Cockroaches with eggs in their heads and belly’s. One damn stamp and you see how quick you’ll splattered flat.
