Ministry of Works Highlights Islandwide Road Upgrades in September
The Ministry of Works has reported steady progress on road infrastructure projects across Antigua and Barbuda during September, crediting contractors, engineers, and road crews for keeping the “road works revolution” in motion.
In a statement this week, officials noted that concrete plants and quarries operated at full capacity to meet demand, while trucking and construction teams carried out upgrades in dozens of communities.
The ministry said details will soon be released on upcoming rehabilitation for All Saints Road and several other major highways included in the next phase of works.
“Behind every road upgrade were countless hands at work — our concrete plant batching overtime, quarries running at full capacity, dedicated truck drivers, skilled engineers, committed contractors, and resilient road crews all making this consistent progress possible,” the ministry said.
Acknowledging support from Prime Minister Gaston Browne, Public Works Minister Maria Browne, and partner agencies including the Antigua Public Utilities Authority and the Antigua and Barbuda Transport Board, the ministry added that more extensive upgrades are planned.
Officials described the program as part of a broader effort to build resilient roadways and modernize national infrastructure.
