All Passengers Make Flights After Airport Clears Baggage Backlog
All passengers reached their departure gates and no flights were missed Tuesday afternoon after a temporary baggage backlog was cleared at V. C. Bird International Airport, airport officials said.
The disruption, triggered by a surge in passenger traffic, was resolved after airport teams worked to ease pressure on baggage screening operations. An official told Antigua.news that the backlog had been “virtually cleared.”
Passenger volumes were nearly as high as a peak Saturday, placing added strain on the airport’s CTX explosive-detection screening systems, the official said. Despite the brief delay, airport management ensured all travelers cleared screening in time for departure.
