All Cabinet members in Antigua and Barbuda fully vaccinated against COVID

 The Cabinet members of Antigua and Barbuda took their second jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Thursday. While other Parliamentarians, including retired parliamentary representatives, will follow suit on Friday and Saturday.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne stated that all the cabinet members are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 after taking the second dose of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine.

Currently, a system of providing second doses to all who received their first dose will be added to those who are seeking to have their first dose administered on Thursday and in the days ahead.

The office of the Prime Minister informed that the four centres would remain even on Friday, and the mobile unit will be deployed on Saturday. Vaccinated adults who planned to travel have had their second doses administered in the days just passed.

Since 2020, Antigua and Barbuda recorded 1,240 cases of the coronavirus and 32 virus-related deaths. While 1,179 people have already recovered in the country, people are swiftly getting vaccinated to safeguard themselves against the virus.

The country is using the Oxford Astrazeneca coronavirus vaccine received from India and the 24000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines through the World Health Organization’s COVAX mission. (WICNEWS)

  1. This is welcoming news. At the same time government and society at large have to be on the look out for phony vaccination cards. As it become more of a requirement for employment it is expected that these things will be fabricated. There must be some checks and balances in place whereby the authenticity of these vaccination cards to be determined.

    • I to was to ask that question. No they are not. Only Lovell and J Quinn have said so publicly as a matter of fact. Vaccination has become a “Gaston” issue so they would not. They find all sort of excuse. Franz for instance was all gungho about taking the vaccine in the earlier parts when people were flooding the clinics and priorities then we’re given to certain groups. Now the uptake is slow and you have ample opportunity he is yet to.

      This is a national issue and it would have shown some leadership if the persons vying for political office would have done so. Then again at their rate maybe their plan is to not respect covid, get rid of the curfew, get rid of the SOE and ask you to take some concoction in the event you catch it.

  9. I hope the jab renders them all sterile along with their entire families. Our nation does not need the likes of them ruining it and misrepresenting us while practicing their creative enrichment schemes.

  10. So, it does not make a difference if they are vaccinated or not. They won’t be mingling with constituents until election is a month or two away.
