Antigua and Barbuda – Hispanic community leader Alex Martinez has spoken out following the tragic murder of Chantel, urging unity in the fight against crime and demanding justice for her family.

“Whoever killed Chantel should pay,” Martinez declared, expressing deep sorrow over the shocking crime that has left the community in mourning. He emphasized that while no words can change the tragic loss, it is crucial to seek answers and ensure accountability.

“As a human being, I have feelings, and we believe that there is a God above. Whoever is behind this will have to answer for it,” Martinez said. “God is good, and we are here to do good and support you in any way we can.”

Martinez described the pain felt not only by Chantel’s family but also by the wider community, noting that the incident has deeply affected everyone. He reflected on the horror of witnessing such violence in Antigua, particularly after reports that the suspect led police to the location of the victim’s body.

“That was even more horrific for us,” he admitted. “There’s nothing else we can say, nothing we can do but fight together—fight crime.”

Calling for justice, Martinez condemned acts of retaliation and urged the public to focus on demanding accountability rather than inciting further violence.

“If you go and kill somebody else, you will also be a criminal,” he cautioned. “We must persist in asking for justice.”

Martinez also reminded the public of the unity demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, stressing that the fight against crime should bring the community together rather than divide it.

The case continues to draw widespread attention as authorities investigate, with many in the community echoing calls for justice.

  1. Thanks ANR, for conveniently leaving out what he said afterwards in that press release. Other news portals must proof read and take the tensions of a country into consideration before pouring fuel on a fire.
