A man from Nut Grove has been sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to possessing a handgun magazine without a licence.

Alex Joseph was arrested last Friday during a police stop-and-search operation on the St John’s Village main road. Officers, including members of the K-9 Unit, stopped Joseph and searched his vehicle, where the magazine from a high-powered handgun was found.

Joseph appeared before a magistrate on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of ammunition without being the holder of a licence.

During sentencing on Thursday, the magistrate applied the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court’s sentencing guidelines before imposing the six-month prison term.

  1. All this says is we are not serious about guns here. Just like burglary, home invasions, and robbery, these sentences are ridiculous.

“Pardner, just hold me other guns for me for a likle while, me a come out soon”
