United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Alex Browne has thanked his supporters following the St. Philip North by-election, expressing gratitude for their backing throughout the campaign.
In a brief message after the results became clear, Browne told supporters: “Thank you for your continued support. The work continues, my brothers and sisters.”
Browne contested the seat after resigning from the Senate to run in the by-election, which was triggered by the retirement of longtime Member of Parliament Sir Robin Yearwood.
Preliminary results showed Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Randy Baltimore holding a decisive lead in the vote count, securing victory with one ballot box still left to be counted.

My Poor Friend Alex Browne. UPP lead you down the wrong path , your POLITICAL career completely destroyed. Please leave that party and concentrate on your RESTAURANT. Run as far as possible from UPP. UPP diminished / destroyed.
This WIN will shut up the BIG mouth of the following persons.
Mr. Knight of Knight at nights.
STUPID BRIXTONIAN,He will not show His face for weeks.
Ian Magic Hughes.
Dave Lester Payne
and many others.
No matter what Alex, our family have a seat at the table of decision making after years of advantage by the former representative, both Alex and Randy is one family without animosity, and for the first time picky head black people is in charge of st Phillips north. All the advocacy by Alex brown has pushed us into a forward movement that cannot be stymied, Alex has energized the constituency and caused ALP to be reactive and don’t take us for granted, Thank you Alex brown.
We have some people come on ANR, on their knees, begging the St Phillips voters please to vote UPP, and to me at times it feels like these people are dreaming. A constituency been voting labor in every election for the past 50yrs, and because of the retirement of their long live MP, all of a sudden the tide in their mind will turn. As a matter of fact if you read the comments of most of them, one would believe Wadadli is the worst country in the world, where everyone one is suffering, but on the other hand, everybody driving a car, and every fete is sold out in minutes. Antiguans are the happiest people in this world.
“The work continues…” Yes UPP continue doing the same things yet expect different results
RANDY BALTIMORE FOR SURE 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
Kudos to you for at least trying.
The time is now for the UPP to take a look at where the problem lies within the party and try yo address them. From the top to the bottom. You have lost two out of three bi elections in as many years. Other than Shugy which was a sure win. Where were the leaders and the hierarchy. Completely nonexistent. I can’t recall seeing Pringle, Richard Lewis, or others showing up and supporting Alex Brown. Most of his public support came from potential candidates of the next general elections. If that trend continues what happened in Barbados and St. Vincent may just happen in Antigua and Barbuda. You are losing touch with the citizenry. Stop playing petty politics with ABLP.. My grandmother use to say a still tongue keeper a wise head. The time for reflection is now. Look at how many good people have left the party. Look at the current state of your caretakers are they strong enough to get the job done. Maybe the time is now for some members to come out of retirement. In my honest opinion Allister Thomas is not a strong candidate to contest against Gaston. Maybe Daniel or even Jaqui Quinn may be a more viable replacement. Look at the areas you barely won a d those that you lost, and strengthen those areas. The time is now to reemerge as a strong United Progressive Party for the people of Antigua and Barbuda. Also to the party’s executive, please extend an olive branch to Jo Ann Massiah, I guarantee you that she is more for you than against you. Just my thinking.
People want handouts, nonplantation hard work is a thing of the 70’s 80’s 90’s
People don’t want to galvanize resources and try to do things the oldfashion way
Sadly, 12 of 27 more years have passed.
We might have to just accept the reality: antigua is not a real place, the upp is not a real party and ‘everything’ is not real, its all A.I.
Once again UPP and their supporters are being delusional and refuse to accept reality. Instead of acknowledging there is something seriously wrong with the party. The overseas supporters sit behind their devices and take everything reported by the media blogs as the gospel truth of how things are going in Antigua. Then there is people like George Whenner who continues to spread lies and misinformation and yet the keyboard warriors takes his word as the truth. And when people disagree with their opinion they are automatically ABLP minions. The fact Alex Browne went from almost defeating Robin Yearwood in 2023 to getting a 2 to 1 beatdown from Randy Baltimore speaks volumes. He lost BADLY in areas that are STRONGHOLD for the UPP that alone should tell them something is WRONG. But the supporters being silly and delusional saying like he did well, votes were bought, its non national,Antiguans love bad treatment blah blah blah. They left Alex Browne all alone like they did Whenner. Its best UPP disband or rebrand or something cause whatever they are doing is not working. Even Bartread Joseph said so.
