8am EDT Oct 5th — NHC is monitoring an area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave (#AL95) which now has a high chance (70%) of formation over the next week. It is forecast to approach the Leeward Islands by late this week.

Tropical Atlantic Disturbance Likely to Develop This Week

A broad area of low pressure (Invest AL95), linked to a tropical wave, continues to generate disorganized showers and thunderstorms several hundred miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.

Forecasters say conditions are favorable for gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form during the week as the system moves quickly westward across the central tropical Atlantic.

The disturbance could approach the Leeward Islands by the latter part of the week, prompting early monitoring across the northeastern Caribbean.

  • Formation chance through 48 hours: 40% (medium)
  • Formation chance through 7 days: 70% (high)
