Antigua’s main airport is working to restore service to its departure escalator, officials have confirmed.

Joseph Samuel, Director of Operations, said technicians from the service provider are currently on site and all necessary parts have arrived.

“We’re working on getting that serviceable as soon as possible,” Mr Samuel told reporters.

“All the parts are here, so we’ll soon see this equipment fully operational at the airport.”

Passengers have recently reported delays and inconvenience due to the escalator’s malfunction.

Airport authorities said they are prioritising the repair to ensure smooth passenger movement.

  1. I hurt my back when that escalator stop abruptly a few years ago. When I exited the escalator on my way to a flight and brought it to the attention of airport personal, there was no apology or are you OK. They didn’t care. I had to see a doctor when I got home. They looked at me with that blank so common unfriendly look. Like why are you telling me. To this day, when visiting, I walk onto that escalator with extreme caution.

  2. This is the problem I have with Antigua state college, only teaching introductory courses, not specialized fields, when I did my electrical study, Mr bramwell buntin at the Antigua sugar factory took us out on field trip around the sugar factory which had the most advanced industrial electrical wiring on the island, a basic electrician cannot go into those industrial electrical system and just do as usual, because there is a lot to learn in comparison to basic electrical wiring that you learn at Antigua state college.
So if the Antigua state college want to help the nation economy develop, they should contract specialize training resources company to come in and teach along with imported infrastructure for hands on since we don’t really posses that advancement like these develop country.
