Hopefully they won’t be additional to Olabanjo and Gaston’s migrants who originally entered Antigua as “rich tourists ” and ended up as an embarrassment not only to Antigua, but to the entire Caribbean basin. Incidentally, what has happened to them?
The ones coming are labelled as “talented group “, where will they be staying and will they have the funds, how will their upkeeping be met and by whom?”
Antiguan’ s should not be taken in by Olabanjo or Gaston’s propaganda with their “talented group”. Group initiatives, they could all be talented fraudsters.
Additionally, will they be coming during normal hours of the airport services, or will they be smuggled in, will they have returned tickets and with valid visa, or will they be issued with visas upon arrival, courtesy of Gaston and Olabanjo?
Note: US Homeland security, as well as the Brits are watching you.
The Brits have already warned Antigua that the privilege that Antiguans once enjoyed of travelling to the UK hangs in the balance.
Gaston and his “tight friend “Olabanjo should heed warnings, we cannot afford no further embarrassments. You have done enough damage by entering into business with Air Peace CEO who is wanted by the US for money laundering.
Incidentally, inquiries have been made with the Nigerian National Theatre, as well as the Nigerian High Commission in the UK and they have no knowledge of members from the the theatre leaving Nigeria to take part in cultural activities in Antigua.
In lights of this discovery, the News Room is implored to contact Nigeria National Theatre to verify what has been printed. From what has been discovered it’s another attempt to fool the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
I read the following yesterday:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/aug/01/four-nigerians-survive-ship-rudder-brazil-rescue
Four Nigerians risks their lives by smuggling they way out of Nigeria. Therfore, it’s essential that Antiguans do not allow themselves to be fooled.
Well antigua 🇦🇬 is just a laughing stock in the Caribbean,an certainly every government around the globe 🌎 just watch at the ignorance this government cast upon its people…….Its sad when a government is greedy for personal gain and for get the citizens,Antiguans will never wakeup from their slumber until they’re pushed aside………..It will be late at that time
I agree and now it is only 16, what has happened to the large number of rich Nigerians. Let’s hope for the best and this time it’s real and not t just properganda.
I personally would like to extend a welcome to Air Peace and the Nigerian People. It is great that our people will be able to experience some of African Culture for the carnival. It brings great joy to me to see that we are starting to foster better relations with the African continent.
I feel sad at some of the negative comments that are share by some persons on here. But it is just the reality of how much damage has been done by brainwashing the people. On the TV we see Africa on a whole as a primitive and poor society because the media fail to bring images of the big cities and rich neighbourhoods.
If we heard that a north american airline was coming, it would be great news. But we were taught that anything Black is bad, so if it comes out of Africa (Black country), then it must be bad.
But if we stop to think that Air Peace net worth is over 3 Billion dollars and it was started by a black man in Nigeria, then we can see that there are some real rich people in Nigeria. It would be nice for Antigua to be the first country in the west that is served by Air Peace.
Wake up my people, all the big countries are now fighting over Africa. Remember, we are not the original owners of Antigua neither – we ourselves became part of the settlers.
“… I feel sad at some of the negative comments that are share by some persons on here …”
What do you expect @ JBF, and why are you so surprised after the utter fiasco from the last airline collaboration, that took the ABLP incompetence to a different level of ineptitude and inadequacy, that many Antiguans cannot believe and are still awaiting answers.
Gaston Browne’s stubbornness (it’s his achilles heel) and unaccountability will be his eventual downfall!
I agree the situation that occurred before was a disaster and that was a result of politics on both sides. I am sure that you will agree that establishing a bridge to Africa is a good idea, but the way it was done, became a problem.
The ALP tried to rush their plans into action for political mileage and at the same time and at the same time, UPP knew if the plan was successful, it would not be good for their party – hence they added pressure. But that is the problem, politicians are putting party in front of country.
@JBF. “the situation that occurred before was a disaster and that was a result of politics on both sides.”. Really!!! Geez!!! What do you people eat??? Weren’t you following the chain of events during that time? The stubbornness of this govt and their eagerness to “one-up” on their political opponents? That drives them, along with personal enrichment, more than common sense.
By the way, today is the 5th and no plane!! Duped again, I guess.(sigh!!)
You do have very valid points but after the first debacle do you blame citizens to be skeptical. I have a lot of Nigerian friends, they are good people on a whole, but fool me once I will try not to make you fool me twice. Africans are all over Europe and worldwide but the recent lies and events were very scary.
STFU @JBF
@Lenny H, By your comment, you have already identified yourself and your level of intelligence – SAD.
Good move Mr PM , Barbados, Jamaica and others are restless in persuing what uou are doing it takes vision and wisdom but to the detractors their comprehension is limited and would not be able to see the fruits of this realization, and even then when you have accomplished they will still be critical, God Bless you Mr PM because Africa will rise as the colossal giant of the world.
Sounds like you ALSO obtained an Antiguan passport and voted at the last General Election for Gaston Browne’s ABLP @ Marcus.
Are you good friends with Marvellous ‘Printer Man’ Mike?
Do you know the difference between a visionary (as you put it) and an idiot?🥸
DIDN’T THINK SO …
@Marcus Zamballala.
When will Africa rise as the colossal giant of the world? If the rate at which Africans are risking life and limb to depart from their homeland to seek a better life elsewhere is any indication then the answer is, not anytime soon. Why is Olebanjo and his sidekick prime minister force-feeding us with Africans all of a sudden? Olebanjo should return to Nigeria, a wealthy country but ruled by a corrupt and incompetent government and help them to sort out the mess it finds itself in. Instead of Nigerians coming to Antigua, a tiny poor country, under false pretenses the movement should be the other way around, that is to say it is Nigeria that should be inviting Antiguans to Nigeria. Especially our Marvelous PM on a one way ticket would be nice. If Barbados, Jamaica and others are “restless” (did you mean that?) then let them take up the slack and step up to the plate. We already have a University campus here for higher learning. We certainly don’t need another for scammers.
Here we go, Again! Is this Gaston’s Airline named after his daughter? Suspicious. Where are these people performing and why not advertized prior? And why not travel on regular commercial airline?
Problem is not hooking up with Africa, it’s how it’s done. Inder-handed and never any positive results.
It is undeniable that Nigeria is a rich country with lots of natural resources, but is also undeniable that 95% of Nigerians live in abject poverty because of the high level of corruption that exists in Nigeria today.
Nigeria is the 6th largest oil producing country and ordinary Nigerians go without electricity for a minimum of 16 hours per day.
I have been to Nigeria several times and experienced the corruption that governed that country. I visited the former slave port in Badagry Town and got robbed in broad day light in the presence of the town Oba, local King, who said nothing and did nothing to stop the robbey.
Kidnapping is rampant throughout Nigeria, coups are frequent events this makes the country to be unstable. Those individuals who are Nigerian sympathisers should visit Nigeria and let’s see what their views will be thereafter.
Within less than four weeks of Olabanjo and Gaston’s migrants being in Antigua some of them were already involved on fraudulent activities. At least two of them were supposed to have appeared before the courts and the police and the Crown Prosecution Services failed to pursue the case.
Many of them used Antigua to smuggled themselves out of Antigua which shows the true character of Nigerians.
The government is not being truthful about the Nigerians coming to Antigua,as neither the theatre in Nigeria nor the Nigerian High Commission is aware of the venture.
Let’s watch this space… as more embarrassing moments lies ahead
Undoubtedly, Africa will rise @Marcus Zamballala, but when will Nigeria rise again? Mutualah Muhammad was Nigeria first and only president who stood for good governance and transparency and what happened to Him? He was assisted, why? He was committed to root out corruption which was not what those corrupt individuals wanted. Your writing suggests that you’re from Nija and if that is true I don’t need to lecture you any further.
I have in excess of 45 years of dealing with the Igbos, Yorubas, calabans, ijaws and I do not trust not one of them.
we welcome our BROTHERS AND SISTERS from Mama Africa to our beautiful shores! Kudos to PM Gaston Browne – visionary, fearless, focused and patriotic. Looking forward to seeing the performances from the Nigerian National Dancers
A plane with over a100 seats, but yet still only the number 16 is mentioned. Are you telling us that there are only 16 passengers coming on this plane, yeah right?
The miss information and ducking and hiding, is what have a lot of us questioning the Antics of this present government.
Putting out half or piece of the full story, and then later try to back track on something that wasn’t even told upfront to begin with, is just foolishness.
My advice to the writers or journalist on this panel.. if you can’t get to the bottom of the full story before you publish it, do not publish it, because it just comes across as clickbait and misleading.
If you want to be a voice for the people of Antigua, demand the pull story from your sources before you just jump on here to fan the flames righteous indignation that many has for this Government, it is disingenuous and uncouth.
On the other hand, this government does not listen to the insights of it’s citizens, because everything that has been warned about on here has come to pass, but yet still here we are again with this Air Peace story.
Like Brix said, stubbornness will be their downfall, and ultimately gravely affect the people of this nation.
4 more years of these debacles, sigh. A damn shame indeed, a damn shame.
The flight arrives Aug 5th, not the 4th. Though I have family who reside in West Africa (Kenya), I have never been there. Hopefully this development will in time, help make it easier, for me and others to visit West Africa. On my bucket list is to visit Ghana
