Activist Bonita Williams Pays Tribute to Late Student Chantel Crump, Urges Students to Stay Safe
Community activist Bonita Williams delivered a heartfelt address during a memorial program honouring the late Chantel Crump, a young student whose life was tragically cut short. Speaking to a gathering of teachers, faculty, staff, students, friends, and family, Williams expressed her sorrow and solidarity with all who mourn Crump’s passing.
“It is truly heartbreaking to lose someone so young, so full of promise and joy,” Williams said, extending her deepest condolences to Shantel’s family, friends, and teachers. “We share in your grief, and we stand with you during this difficult time.”
Williams used the occasion not only to reflect on Crump’s life but also to deliver an important message about personal safety and community support, especially for students.
“To all the students here, I want you to know that your safety and well-being are the most important things to us,” she said. “The loss of Chantel reminds us of how precious life is—and how we must always look out for one another.”
She encouraged students to remain vigilant, avoid being alone in unsafe situations, and to always trust their instincts. “If something does not feel right, seek help from a trusted adult,” she advised.
Williams also issued a call to parents, teachers, and community members, reaffirming their shared responsibility in ensuring the safety of young people. “We are here to protect and support you,” she stated.
Despite the sorrowful occasion, Williams urged the audience to remember the joy that Chantel brought into their lives. “Though it is a painful time, let us also remember the kind laughter and happiness that Chantel brought into our lives,” she said. “We honor her memory by holding on to the love and lessons she shared with us.”
Williams concluded by thanking the Coordinating Committee for inviting her to speak, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity to extend condolences and offer words of encouragement.
The ceremony served as both a memorial and a reminder of the importance of compassion, vigilance, and community unity in the face of tragedy.

TWO questions for Bonita.
1) Did you actually VIEW the body of Chantel Crump prior to its removal from the “dumpsite” at Weatherills ????
2) Can you say, AS YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY ASSERTED, that Chantel’s body bore any signs of having been mutilated, as far as YOUR eyes could see, prior to its removal by Police, to a funeral home in St. John’s?
We may not have known Chantel personally, or her parents and sibling(s) but we genuinely mourn her loss.
JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL CRUMP NOW!!!
GOD BLESS YOU BONITA FOT YOUR TIRELESS EFFORTS CONCERNING PRINCESS CHANTEL CRUMP. WE OUGHT TO HAVE A NATIONAL DAY OF MOURNING ON THE DAY OF CHANTEL’S FUNERAL. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE 🙏 🌹, AND ON THAT RESURRECTION DAY, RISE IN GLORY 🌄 🕊
