Antigua and Barbuda’s health authorities have confirmed 20 cases of Dengue Fever in the region.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Teri-Ann Joseph has reassured the public that there is no need for alarm.

She explained that an increase in Dengue cases during the rainy season is common and fosters a favorable environment for the Aedes aegypti mosquito, responsible for Dengue transmission.

The region typically sees 10 to 20 Dengue cases from September to November, with 15 to 20 considered an alert stage.

Dr. Joseph’s team has adopted proactive measures including home inspections, fogging, educational materials, and increased testing, aiming to prevent an epidemic.

  1. Are we saying that we are happy that mosquito are breeding? Are we trying to foster mosquito farms? Are we saying the region sees ten cases or Antigua sees ten cases?
No man, BS at its finest

  2. Antigua and Barbuda health authorities confirmed 20 cases in the region. Barbados has hundreds. Martinique and Grenada have triple and double figures. What really has Antigua health authorities confirmed?

  3. This lady will say what Molwyn Joseph tells her to say, hence the incoherent, nonsensical babbling, just like him. I for one will expect nothing informative or reliable from this source.
Is she related to Molwyn? Just wondering.

  4. I have been calling on the Heath authorities to start the fogging please. This morning outside my windows I saw hundreds of mosquitoes trying to get into my house. I made mention of the increase in cases in our neighboring island . The saying is still true – “when your neighbor house on fire , wet yours”

  5. Barbados health care system and record keeping is way superior that is why are reporting that number of cases. Same with the French speaking territories. So based on that and what our good Dr. is saying, those 20 cases are most likely Antiguans.

  6. ‘The region typically sees 10 to 20 Dengue cases from September to November, with 15 to 20 considered an alert stage’ . . . and the dunce cap goes to. . .

  7. If in a live interview, it was said that antigua had 12 cases in september alone, sounds like alot of clarity is needed. As one of you commenting on here said, three cases in hospital is one too many.
