Accused in Med Student’s Death Faces Extended Committal Delays

1. He is a Masonic Member (A Lodge Member) and his wife is a Magistrate so they have the powers and the influence from inside the Justice system to have the case delayed and thrown out of Court.The public won’t be surprised if he gets away scotch free.The Justice System here in Antigua is corrupt bad.

2. Our corruption os mote than obvious, the death of that young man and the maiming of the young lady who lost her arm must not go unpunidhef. The reality is the laws of Antigua in matters our causing Death by dangerous driving are old and useless. A man lost his life 8 years ago . Though the accused pleaded guilty to causing his death he got the option of paying $18000.00 in fines or a three year prison sentence. There was no compensation for the mans wife or young teen son. May those who pervert justice in this way be cursed of God in this life and the next Amen

3. So much fatal traffic accidents in Antigua, I wonder why is this one all you always talking about??? Is one life more important than the other???

   • This accident occured due to recklessness. He also left the scene after the accident which is a crime. Are all the other fatal accidents the same as this one — Because this one was particularly flagrant.

       • Were you there? It was reported in the NEWS that he left the scene and returned with his lawyer; that story was never retracted. Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime. And, fyi, I can and will comment on whatever the phuck I want to on this platform.

     • I guess there is no political mileage to gain from standing up for her case. No marching or demonstration by the Concerned Citizen like in the Nigel Christian murder. No writing of any letter requesting answers from the Attorney General. No questions to the Commissioner of Police. Nothing whatsoever. And especially no reporter that shows any interest in investigating the case. And no Media House to take it up from time to time to ensure this case is not swept under the carpet. And especially no Brixtonian that would say anything about it. Could it be because the UPP was still in power when it happened? I wonder. As long as I live, whenever I get the chance, I would mention it. And I have boycotted doing any business relating to the family. No golf with Patrick, no perfume from Lipstick, no tours on the Excellence. And certainly, NO weightlifting at Xtreme Health and Fitness Ltd. And no Insurance at Bryson’s and no shipping with Bryson’s. My conscience will bother me if I do. I stand for some principles.

       • @Sideline, what did to say when this fatal accident occured? Did you post any comment on ANR about it – or were you silent? You’re the only one on here making this a political issue — however, you have done absolutely nothing different to what you’re now criticizing as far as this tragedy is concerned. You made is apparent that this defendant is a “labour all the way” supporter. It’s sickening that even the deaths of others are viewed through your political lenses.

   That man wife left him. They are no longer together. She’s not affiliated with the choices he made and that of the Justice system. Sometimes we as people need to have facts before we comment…

6. And when will we get any closure in the death of Andrea Hughes of New Winthrop’s who was hit by a car driven by young Mr. Ryan, Son of Patrick Ryan. To date we still have not seen him answering in court for the accident. Andrea was a human being, a mother of nine children. She wasn’t a dog. And when a human being dies an un-natural death, someone must account for that. The police and the judiciary are doing the people of this country a great injustice. But God does not sleep. Remember when things will happen to your children and their children.

7. How are things between him and his wife??? He and the little boy Anthony Smith better take heed.
