ABTTA Launches “Nex-Gen Ping Pong” to Inspire Young Talent
The Antigua and Barbuda Table Tennis Association (ABTTA) is excited to launch “Nex-Gen Ping Pong: Play. Grow. Excel,”
a program designed to introduce U-11 and U-13 students to table tennis while fostering the next generation of talent.
In its initial phase, the program equips five primary schools—Cedar Grove, Golden Grove, Greenbay, Old Road, and Cobbs Cross—with table tennis boards and essential equipment, providing young players with opportunities to learn and excel in the sport.
Expanding Horizons
The ABTTA aims to extend the program as more resources become available, ensuring additional schools and communities can participate. Plans include securing more equipment, such as boards, rackets, balls, and nets, to further grow the initiative.
Vision for Excellence
“Table tennis is not just a sport but a pathway to discipline, teamwork, and community connection,” says ABTTA President Charles Bellot. “With Nex-Gen Ping Pong, we are laying the groundwork for a vibrant and inclusive future.”
Future Plans
The program will feature youth tournaments, coaching clinics, and intra-school competitions, creating clear pathways to national and international talent programs like the ITTF Hopes Program.
ABTTA will, over the coming months, also strengthen the programs at the schools at which it has already placed boards, namely:
St. Josephs’ Academy
Antigua Grammar School
Pares Secondary School
All Saints Secondary School
Princess Margaret School
Clarehall Secondary School
Jennings Secondary School
Christ the King/St. John’s Catholic Primary School
