18

The Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) will elect a new caretaker for the St. George’s constituency on Tuesday following its primary election. Four candidates—media figure Joel Rayne, sports administrator and entrepreneur Michael Freeland, former independent senator Bakisha Francis-James, and public sector worker and entrepreneur Salim Browne—have been campaigning for months.

Approved during a special executive meeting, they will contest the primary at Potters Primary School from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Only ABLP members in good standing are eligible to vote, with the final voter list released today after resolving any objections by March 16.

  1. The winner will be who Gaston wants, they will just be going through the motion because they have to, I would bet my last dollar it’s Joel. Sorry Bakesha it’s not you, we need more women in our politics

  2. All boasting of how they can improver the constituency…….
Can do so only if they are representative under a labour government………
    Labour is in power…………..
What prevents their plans from being put into action……….
Show up Serpent and win the people’s heart……..
    Nooooooooo.. Not so…………
We want him out and we want labour in power to show how much we love St George……..
    Hypocrites……..
Looking to get into the cabal to creatuvely enrich themselves………
Creative enrichment, thievery, corruption, all for me and none for you…………

    • oh shut up! None of these candiates ever SHOT A PREGNANT WOMAN DEAD!!!! So they wouldn’t meet the UPP cesspool “standard”

  3. Four worthy candidates! Best of luck to all. It is my sincere hope that whoever emerges the winner would take with him/her the guiding principles of the Organization/Movement you represent.be not deterred by the likes of “Straight Shooter” whose old-fasioned rhetoric has no place or relevance going into THE NEXT LEVEL.

  4. JOEL RAYNE is the only one on the slate that can bring home that seat to ABLP. The others have too many BAGGAGE,

Prime Minister be CONSCIOUS of the above.

  5. My fellow comrades. Vote to WIN the next election!

Michael Freeland is best positioned for ABLP victory in St. George. The politics is in his blood. He is the one the UPP and Serpent fear. His campaign and manifesto were the strongest. His interviews and vision shared on radio were the most compelling
Two of the candidates didn’t even release plans in a proper way.
Michael Freeland has demonstrated during this primary that he is ready and able to secure St. George for labour.
So I encourage you to ensure ALL the voters in your house and your group of friends in the community go to Potters Primary today and put their X by Michael Freeland!

  6. Which one of the candites were involved in Social Activism prior to political aspiration?

Which one of the candidates supported and created organizations geared towards youth empowerment prior to political aspiration?

Which one of the candidates are approachable, empathetic, humble and accessible?

Which one of the candidates lead by example and not afraid to shovel up garbage in the communiy instead of ‘staying ‘clean’ while shaking hands with principals and the likes presenting ‘gifts’ donated by their funders?

Which of these candidates have fought for Gender equality and Better protection for our children by being active in groups like Women Against Rape (WAR) and Gender Affairs?

Which of these candidates have championed actions over Mental Health issues and the stigma associated with mental health in an effort to bring awareness and find solutions?

We sometimes have to remove emotions from the equation and instead look at the evidence in order to make the right choice.

Bakesha Francis-James fits the bill here. She’s the right choice for St.George’s.
