ABLP Hails Sean Bird’s Return During V.C. Bird Celebrations
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) used the annual celebration of V.C. Bird’s legacy to commend the return of Sean Bird, grandson of the nation’s founding father, to the party.
ABLP Chairman E.P. Chet Greene recognized Sean Bird’s presence at the event, describing it as a significant moment for the party. “Today, I have reason to smile. My heart is happy, as is the heart of every Labour Party supporter,” Greene said, emphasizing the importance of the Bird family’s contributions to the party and the nation.
Sean Bird’s decision to rejoin the ABLP, announced earlier this year, marks a reunion with the political party his grandfather helped build. V.C. Bird is credited with leading Antigua and Barbuda to independence in 1981 and establishing a foundation for the country’s development.
Greene also extended condolences to Sean Bird and his family following the passing of his father, Ivor Bird, noting the role of the Bird family in shaping the country’s history and future.
The celebration served as a reminder of the enduring legacy of V.C. Bird and the continued relevance of his ideals to the party’s vision and policies. Sean Bird’s return was hailed as a step forward in upholding those principles.
