ABLP CONDEMNS DISRESPECTFUL CONDUCT DURING PARLIAMENTARY TRIBUTE TO SIR MOLWYN JOSEPH
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) expresses deep disappointment and strong condemnation of the conduct displayed by members of the United Progressive Party (UPP) during the sitting of Parliament today, which also paid tribute to Sir Molwyn Joseph as he retires from active politics.
The occasion was intended to honor a distinguished son of the soil whose decades of service to Antigua and Barbuda have left an indelible mark on national development and regional leadership.
Sir Molwyn Joseph’s tenure as a Member of Parliament is characterized by wisdom, statesmanship, excellent oratory, and dedicated leadership. Over the years, he served in several ministerial portfolios, including Tourism, Health, and the Environment, contributing significantly to the growth and advancement of Antigua and Barbuda.
The ABLP notes that parliamentary tributes, particularly those marking retirement from public service, are traditionally moments that transcend political differences. Such occasions call for dignity, maturity, and respect for the individual’s contribution to national life. The conduct displayed during the tribute fell short of these expectations and undermined the decorum of Parliament.
