ABLP Chairman Confident in Regaining Barbuda Seat in Next Election
Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) Chairman, E.P. Chet Greene, has expressed confidence that the party will reclaim the Barbuda parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections, citing the ongoing development and economic progress on the island.
In his statement, Greene reflected on the party’s 2014 campaign promises, which he acknowledged some Barbudans initially doubted. The groundbreaking of Barbuda’s airport project in 2017 was met with skepticism, with critics accusing the ABLP of undertaking a “ground faking” exercise.
Despite these challenges, including court battles, protests, and opposition from the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM), Greene maintained that the ABLP remained unwavering in its commitment to the island’s development.
“Our commitment was never in doubt,” Greene said, highlighting the obstacles the party faced. “Challenge after challenge, protest after protest – but we persevered.”
Greene believes that as Barbuda’s economy continues to grow, more Barbudans will recognize the tangible benefits of the ABLP’s efforts. He emphasized that the developments, particularly in the areas of employment and connectivity, are now visible to all.
“The reality is now hitting everyone. It’s no longer just political rhetoric. The Barbuda economy is real, the connectivity with the rest of the world is real,” Greene stated.
He also defended the government’s land development approach, which has been a contentious issue, particularly in opposition circles. Greene asserted that no land is being taken away from Barbudans, and instead, it is being used for the island’s benefit.
Looking ahead, Greene predicted that the ABLP would regain the Barbuda seat, which the party lost in 2018. He believes that Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the ABLP will soon be vindicated for their efforts to develop Barbuda.
“I believe that in short order, Arthur Nibbs, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, and the Labour Party will be absolved. Barbudans are seeing the truth of the situation, and the progress we’ve made is undeniable,” he said, referencing the party’s former MP, Nibbs, who lost the seat in 2018.
Greene further mentioned that the development of Barbuda is part of a phased project that will continue over the next 18 months to two years, with more opportunities and growth to come.

Winair has 2 half-dead planes and flies to places nobody wants to visit. This is another ALP land grab, and Barbuda people will not fall for this scam.
There is no land to “grab”. ALL lands are VESTED IN THE CROWN!! The Crown cannot “grab” what belongs to the Crown!!!

Don’t worry, soon you will be outnumbered..
The ALP is not the “crown”. Bird people too thief!
neither is Trevor WalkAWAY
“The Crown broadly represents the state in all its aspects within the jurisprudence of the Commonwealth realms and their subdivisions”
Tell Barbudans to show their TITLE DEED “a document that states and “PROVES someone’s LEGAL right to own a building or a piece of land
“Tragically, Browne contended, the contentious issue of the ownership of the land in Barbuda had been used for decades by the BPM and UPP to INTENTIONALLY ORCHESTRATE POLITICAL MISCHIEF and drive a wedge and cause acrimony between Barbudans and the Antigua-based Central Government. “The very alliance between the BPM and UPP was predicated on that ownership MYTH. “They knew better, but they have deceptively and deliberately sought to institutionalise and weaponise the MYTH of ownership to achieve, and maintain, political relevance”.
Wasted confidence, Chet.
