The ABLP caretaker for St John’s Rural West, Michael Joseph, has condemned the fatal shooting of 42-year-old Nikisha “Niki” Rose, describing her death as tragic and senseless.
Speaking to Antigua.news, Mr Joseph said he was expressing “profound sorrow” over the killing of the Gray’s Farm resident, who was shot late on Friday night in Michael’s Village.
He extended condolences to Rose’s family and friends, calling the incident a devastating loss for the community and urging anyone with information to assist police investigations.
Mr Joseph also described violent crime as a scourge that could not be accepted, noting that witnessing the loss of life was one of the most painful aspects of public service.
Police said Rose was shot at about 10:30pm on Friday, 23 January, near the G&E Parking Lot in Michael’s Village, while travelling in a vehicle with a male companion.
Both victims were taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre with gunshot wounds. Rose was pronounced dead at 11:21pm. The male victim, also from Gray’s Farm, remains in hospital in stable condition.

Tell the inept Administration that you are a part of to step up their crime fighting efforts and get rid of the the Minister in charge because he is a waste of time. Antigua deserves much better
Its easy to say if we see something say something when people live in fear of reprisal
They are only concerned about crime when it’s one of their supporter or family member that is affected.
The gun used in the shooting probably was one of the weapon that was gotten rid of by criminal on the advice of the leader of your party. Many more will die
Until this caretaker denounced the instructions to the gun slingers from his lawless boss, he should just go away.
It is full time that we become a proactive society rather than reactive one…. Too many gun crimes are taking place and the police are no where in close proximity in little ST. John’s city.
The police have enough vehicles to patrol St. John’s 24 × 7. In addition why are police stations like Gray’s Farm police station close to the public in the night
Deepest condolences 🙏🏿
RIP Nikisha
