PM Urges Barbudans to Seize $1 Land Offer
Prime Minister Gaston Browne is calling on Barbudans to take up the government’s offer to purchase land for just $1 per acre, describing it as a rare opportunity for empowerment and reparative justice.
“Take the land for $1,” Browne urged during his weekly radio programme. “Those holding on to myths and political ignorance will live to regret it.”
The initiative, which awaits the completion of the Barbuda land registry, will allow Barbudans to buy up to one acre—whether full or half—for a nominal fee. Antiguans will pay market value.
Browne said Barbudans have been denied ownership for centuries, blaming colonial policies and post-independence inaction. He also dismissed criticism over differential pricing, saying, “Until the courts say otherwise, we’re selling the land to Barbudans for $1.”
Land sales are expected to begin once the registry process is complete.

No it’s written in the constitution that Barbuda land belongs to be people as a collective. It’s communal land not real estate. Once this is done you do as you like to Barbuda and sell it to any middle eastern millionaire then we just end up with Jumpy bay or Puerto Rico, if you don’t believe that will happen just look at Antigua now.
This myth of Barbuda doesn’t own their land is foolishness everyone owns it and had the right to built a home. And also blocks outsiders from invading the island because if that wasn’t a thing Barbuda wouldn’t exist today as how it is and if this Administration just help rebuilt the homes are give a insurance fee for the damages it wouldn’t have been any issues. Just curious, how much the people that come from overseas pay, you all just keep giving land at peppercorn prices and after that locals are shut out. As PM you might be sble to go on these lands but when your time ends as PM you will also get the same treatment
He’s now pretending to care for the Barbudans after calling them names, pimping them for their votes and then taking the matter to Parliament to disenfranchise them of their land. He claimed that PLH was able to turn profits of US $ 1.4 billion in 2023 or 2024
Barbudans should know that if they fall for this scam, those holders of our CIP passports will be able to purchase lands also and unlike the Barbudans who will be restricted to 1 acre, they will be scrambling to take the remainder in hundreds of acres. They will be flipping lands like crazy. Remember that you can’t undo the process as long as it has started.
