(PRESS RELEASE) The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) wishes to extend condolences to the family of one of our Nation’s foremost musicians, the late Tyrone “Scaly” Mason, who passed away on Wednesday 3rd February 2021.
Scaly, as he was affectionately known, was a true stalwart and iconic musician in Antigua and Barbuda, following in the footsteps of his father, and cultural icon, the late Oscar Mason.
His love for Antigua and Barbuda’s culture, including music and Carnival, was unmatched, and over the years, he spent a vast majority of his life positively contributing to the development of music, across various genres, specifically with his favoured instrument, the saxophone.
To the Mason family, on behalf of the Honourable Daryll Matthew, members of the Board, and staff, of the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of an exceptional musical patriot.
