On March 13th, 2020, Antigua and Barbuda recorded its first case of COVID-19. Almost one year later, our tiny Nation is still battling a global pandemic that has affected millions worldwide, and hundreds locally. As a result of this, the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) has recognized that the fight against COVID-19 is not limited to a specific government agency, group or person, but rather requires the efforts of every citizen and resident of Antigua and Barbuda.
On this day, the ABFC is pleased to launch a social media campaign #IDAREYOUTOSTAYSAFE, which is primarily geared towards Antiguan and Barbudan social media users to reinforce COVID-19 protection measures and protocols outlined by the World Health Organization, as well as the positivity of vaccination.
As a socially responsible government agency, the ABFC does not solely execute National Events and Festivals, but also plays a pivotal role in the Antiguan and Barbudan society, specifically the online community. In this instance, the fight against COVID-19 has increased the need for more awareness of health, safety, and preventative measures; while reminding persons that in order to return to some level of normalcy, the ongoing battle requires the full cooperation of every citizen and resident.
A healthy Nation is a wealthy Nation, and over the next few weeks, the ABFC will be producing online content, inclusive of photo and video messages from our local ambassadors, influencers and other stakeholders that will be dispersed throughout our social media pages, using the unique hashtag #IDAREYOUTOSTAYSAFE. In addition to this, the ABFC has also launched a unique Facebook Profile Photo Frame, and persons are encouraged to utilize this tool, to show support for the continued spread of messages relating to health and safety.
